August 2015 Drill Weekend

This drill will provide our cadets with a very unique opportunity to honor a shipmate for 30 years of service.  They will be among one of the largest gatherings of E-9s Nashville has ever had! And our cadets have been personally invited to be there.  We have been invited to participate in the event by having our color guard present the colors at Master Chief DelRosario’s retirement ceremony!  It’s an honor to have been invited!  This ceremony will take place on Saturday as part of our drilling weekend.

June 2015 Drill

During our June drill, our color guard had the opportunity to present the colors before a local baseball game at the new ball park in Nashville. The Nashville Sounds were a great host! The cadets got to watch the game from a fun location out over left field. Not only did we get to watch a great baseball game, but it was also a few of our cadets’ last drill. We had 3 cadets graduate this year. Click the photo to see more from our June drill.

2015 Annual Inspection Weekend

Every year, our unit has to go through an inspection. This is a great time for our cadets to make sure they are all “in order” with their uniforms, ribbons and more. All of our cadets look so sharp in their dress uniforms. Click the image below to see more photos from our inspection weekend.

MAR14 Drill: Ziplining & CPR/First Aid

Our March drill started with a fun-filled day of ziplining at Adventureworks in Kingston Springs. Cadets had previously earned a $500 coupon during the 5K “Run for our Veterans” event at Vanderbilt University so we decided to cash that in as a reward for the cadets’ hard work and dedication in the months following our change of command. After returning to base, cadets spent some time at the Smyrna YMCA doing swim quals and the next day was dedicated to CPR/First Aid training.

This weekend was also a very special occasion as our Commanding Officer (COL Ames, USA Ret.) celebrated his birthday! We won’t tell you how old he is because he’s still young at heart as you may have been able to tell from the photo attached to this story. All the cadets and officers got together in the drill hall and surprised him with with a “Happy Birthday” song then we all enjoyed an ice cream sandwich together.

This all made for a very exciting and productive drill. We hope to have more like this one in the future!

2014 Annual Inspection Weekend

Our annual inspection was held on 22FEB14 and we passed with flying colors. BZ Nashville LPD-13 Division! Cadets were rewarded for their hard work and dedication with some time in the helicopter simulators and some free time for fun & games! Side note: we seem to have misplaced the photos that were taken during the inspection itself but we’re working on tracking them down and will get them uploaded as soon as they’re found. Parents, please forgive us for the delay!
