Randor Lake / Shelby Bottoms Cleanup

Rancor Lake

The Sea Cadets spent the day serving our local community by cleaning up the Shelby Bottoms Greenway and Randor Lake. Activities such as these help cadets earn community service ribbons, and count towards community service requirements in a variety other programs that they may be involved in.

Memorial Day Weekend

The Nashville Division Honor/Color Guard led the Pledge of Allegiance at the Middle Tennessee Veterans Cemetery on Sunday, May 26th and they presented the wreath at the Nashville National Cemetery on May 27th (Memorial Day). Not only was this event a tremendous honor for all the cadets who were involved, it held a special significance for Chief Pugh’s as it was his final event as a cadet. Hats off to them all for a job well done!

9-10MAR13 Drill (Annual Inspection)

This was our Annual Inspection weekend. It was a very busy weekend with our friends from the Signal Mtn. Division joining us. It was their inspection weekend as well. After inspection, the cadets participated in a competition building make shift boats out of PVC pipe, sheet plastic and duct tape. PO2 Birkel’s team won, well at least theirs was the only one that floated. It was fun to watch them work as a team. The cadets also got to work with the SeaPerch machines they built earlier, exploring the boat dock from below the water with the machines that have under water cameras. Both Divisions had a very good inspection and enjoyed the weekend very well. There was also a Change of Command ceremony for the Nashville Division. LTjg Marshall Pugh was to relieve LT Diane Smith as Division CO. LT Smith is moving to 063 Regional Staff as Training Officer. A Meritorious Ribbon was presented to LT Smith for her leadership and service to the Division and the USNSCC for the past 5 years.
