No! There is no military obligation for cadets, no matter how long they stay in the NSCC. It is, however, a great way to get a taste of what the military is about prior to making a decision and if you decide to join any branch there are benefits if you reach a certain level within the Cadet Corps.

There are two programs the USN League Cadet Corps and the USN Sea Cadet Corps. The League Cadet Corps is for youth ages 10-13. The Sea Cadet Corps is for cadets ages 13-18.
